Florida: Avoid overpayment. Learn how HRA applies to out-of-pocket costs

Reconcile patient responsibility on remittance notices

Claim payments made from health reimbursement accounts (HRAs) may not seem clearly reflected on provider remittance notices. Some practices bill North Florida members for coinsurance amounts when they’re already paid for out of the member’s HRA funds. This can result in bill overpayment, which isn’t allowed by your contract agreement.

Our self-paced, online course Health Reimbursement Accounts: Payment Review breaks down how HRA funds are applied to deductible and coinsurance amounts. Billing administrators will learn from 2 examples how to reconcile remittance notices and determine members’ out-of-pocket costs.
